I have a large body of experience, from front line entry level work, supervision and management, to leadership positions in both professional and volunteer capacities. My career as a mental health administrator, corporate trainer, and HR consultant has given me the opportunity to use my past experiences to motivate and develop others in the areas of employee engagement and leadership, communication skills, and team-building through interactive workshops and coaching. I work with businesses ranging from government entities, to manufacturing, healthcare, food service, education, transportation, and distribution.
I am recognized as an engaging and knowledgeable public speaker and facilitator with outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. I am currently writing a book based on my work with supervisors and managers, "Come See Me in My Office."
I am a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College. I have an MA degree in Neuropsychology from Emory University and have done post-graduate work at University College London. My MSW degree is from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I am currently living in Memphis, TN, and am available to travel nationally.
My services include a comprehensive consult with Human Resources and other key leaders to help identify needs and opportunities. I believe that by pinpointing specific issues, rather than working with vague generalities, employees can learn more effectively. Depending on circumstances, assignments may be given to reinforce skill-building. My work is built on the philosophy that for something to change you have to do something different.
By developing and providing over 300 workshops annually for about 100 accounts, I have had the opportunity to customize my presentations to meet the needs of the individuals, departments, and businesses I serve.
I recognize that my effectiveness depends on my ability to communicate with people from various backgrounds and my skill at simplifying complex concepts. My strong assessment skills enable me to develop creative, solution-focused strategies, particularly when dealing with workplace change and employee engagement; while taking into account that the effectiveness of training must be outcome-driven.
I am focused on results, not just on presenting workshops. Because I have developed and delivered so many training offerings, I am able to revise my workshops to improve their effectiveness. If I don't present a concept clearly, I change my approach. If it doesn't work in Memphis, it won't work in Minneapolis or Miami.
As a highly experienced professional who relates well to many people and understands the dynamics of the workplace, I am effective at engaging and energizing employees as they develop new insights and skills.
